Elevation Burger in Falls Church, Virginia
I checked out Elevation Burger in Falls Church this afternoon, which is a new "healthy" burger restaurant. Although I'm dubious of the healthy-ness of burgers and fries, I appreciate their having two different veggie burgers on the menu. Veggie burger #1 has a meat-like taste, and veggie burger #2 tastes like veggies.
For beef eaters (no, I don't mind the guy on the gin bottle) there are organic beef burgers, which sound pretty tasty. The greasy fries they serve are sliced right in front of you and cooked fresh in olive oil.
While the food is better than ordinary fast food, it's not exactly do die for. (The milkshakes are supposed to be killer, but I haven't tried one.) Also, it's nice that the prices aren't "elevated" -- even though they server higher quality food that is freshly made, both meat and veggie burgers cost just around $3.

Wow, Kobe beef burgers for $3 has got to be some kind of record...
Yeah, actually I gave that a second thought yesterday and double-checked. They aren't kobe beef -- someone posted that somewhere on the internet, but they were wrong. The beef is just plain organic.
That's cool. The milkshakes are, in fact, killer. I'd recommend the strawberry vanilla malt. The burgers are OK. My favorite thing about the place is that it's cheap and it has good options for vegetarians. That can be hard to find at a burger joint.
They are "American Kobe" which is meat from the Wagyu breed of cattle but nothing to do with the city of Kobe. Wagyu is a better breed for burgers. Though I think Hereford is best.
Another good spot in the District for milkshakes is Z Burger. The milkshakes at Z Burger are delicious and there are over 50 flavors to choose from. I love the cake mix shake the best.
